Exclusive interview at home with @rlittlehouseproject

Dear Home Lover

In this lifestyle letter we decided to do an at home with interview with a home lifestyle content creator from the Uk called Emily who currently has over 16k followers on her Instagram home page @rlittlehouseproject we hope you enjoy reading all about all things home in our exclusive at home with interview.

1) Emily tell all about your fabulous home, where about's is it and what made you choose it?

Hi all! I live in Northamptonshire with my husband, Shea. Funnily enough, I have lived on the street all my life. We were living with my parents when a house in the close came up for sale. We’re quite a close street, everyone gets in well, street parties- that kind of thing! My family and I had known the man that lived there and who had sadly passed, and when the house came up for sale we put in an offer. We never dreamt we’d get it as the house had so many viewings, which obviously we were witness too, with living at my parents opposite. But luckily and so very kindly, the family accepted our offer as they said were comforted by the thought that it was going to the neighbours of their beloved dad, and we promised to keep them updated with all the house renovations. We couldn’t have been more grateful to the family, and being able to renovate the house, but pop across to my parents to shower and sleep was ideal. It still has its perks now, run out of milk or dry shampoo is running low- no fear- straight across to the parents. We absolutely love being so close! I often get up to go to work to find my car has already been de-iced by my dad, bless him!

2) We understand that an extension is underway on the property can you give us a bit more detail and insight into what you're planning and the overall vision for the project?

Yes, we are the crazy people that have decided to extend just a few years after doing a full house renovation. We are well underway with a one-story side and two- storey rear extension- doubling the size of the downstairs, creating an open plan kitchen/ living space, and adding a bedroom upstairs and balcony. I’m just so excited to have enough space to host both families/ friends. In hindsight, we probably should have extended as soon as we bought the house, but in a way, I’m glad we didn’t as I definitely feel that we needed to live in it to know what we want. I’m not sure that my 25-year-old self would have appreciated the practicality of adding a utility room.

3) What would you say is your interior design style and do you have any inspiration for that?

Umm, I’d say my style is contemporary classic if that works? My biggest interior inspirations are Sophie Paterson and Christina Swanfield. Sophie is the interior queen and Christina’s house is my style to a T. I’m so excited to get the extension finished and have more rooms to decorate!

4) What is your interior design no, go's?

Controversial maybe, but I’m not a massive fan of the Scandi minimalistic interior that seems to be quite popular at the minute. I can respect that it might be photogenic, but I think it’s important for a home to be homely and have a bit of character.

5) If you could give a first-time buyer 1 piece of advice regarding being a homeowner, what would it be?

Don't rush to buy anything! Everything I bought prior to moving in, or the rooms I rushed to decorate as soon as we got the keys, I hated and changed. I definitely recommend living in it to know what works space wise etc. before being too quick to furnish everywhere.

With love,
